# Draw a ray diagram to show the image formation of a distant object by a refracting telescope. Write the expression for its angular magnification in terms of the focal lengths of the lenses used. State the important considerations required to achieve large resolution and their consequent limitations.

The angular magnification of refracting telescope is given as;

$m=\frac{-f_{o}}{f_{e}}$

Where Objective focal length

$f_{e}=$ The focal length of the eyepiece

The important considerations required to achieve large resolution;-

$\Rightarrow$ To achieve a large resolution, the objective of a large aperture is required.

Consequent Limitations;-

• It suffers from chromatic observations.
• It is heavy, so difficult to make and support by their edge.
