Explain, how the process of emission of photoelectrons is different from the process of emission of \beta-particles.

Answers (1)

Emission of photoelectron takes place due to the incident photons on the metal surface whereas emission of \beta particles takes place in the radioactive nucleus spontaneously.
Photoelectrons are not accompanied by the emission of any other particle whereas \beta particles accompanied by the emission of neutrino or antineutrino.
