Explain why electrolysis of molten lead bromide is considered a redox reaction

Answers (1)

best_answer

During the electrolysis of molten lead bromide, lead ions are discharged at the cathode where they oxidize by gaining electron whereas Br−1 ions are discharged at the anode where they get reduced by losing electrons.

Hence as the oxidation and reduction occur simultaneously it is a redox reaction
