How do birds come to know when and where to migrate?

The first year Birds make their first migration on their own. They have knowledge about daytime sun, stars, and by analyzing the magnetic field of the Earth. The birds have the knowledge of their migration. Most often it is the length of the daytime, Temperature which makes them realize that it's time to Migrate. The birds have magnetite receptors that are above the bird’s nostrils which helps them to use the earth's magnetic field as a compass. They get the information through the setting up of the sun and some landmarks during the day. Some of them make use of Landscapes like Coastlines, Mountains, etc. while some use the position of stars and sun to decide where they want to go. Even nocturnal birds use the position of the sun and stars to decide which way to go. Some learn the routes from their Parents while some take the help of a sense of smell to navigate their routes.
