NaCl is made by reacting acid and base . NaOH is a base and HCl is an acid.

HCl +NaOH _{--}\rightarrow NaCl +H_{2}O

It is neutralization reaction. It is known as Rock salt in crystalline form. It is result of evaporation of ancient ocean of million of years ago. Sometime pressure from deep inside the earth forces up large rocks to form salt like domes.
