Solution:  We have ,   2x^2+ax+b=0    ....(1) and  2x^2+bx+a=0  ....(2)

                 from (1) - (2) we have    x=1

                Hence,    \ 2(1)^2+a imes 1+b=0    Rightarrow  a+b=-2
