Dear Matthew,

Hope this letter finds you in good health. It has been a while since I last wrote to you. How are you? And how is your family? Hope all is well.

Recently I went to an orphanage. It was part of a school project so I had to go but I was glad that I did go as it was an eye opening experience for me. The name of the orphanage is ‘Hopeland’ and it is in Delhi. It is located in a beautiful landscape. The property is big and the staff is nice and friendly. The children of the orphanage are well provided for as it is a government funded organisation. But I was really sad to see the reality of those children. There are about a thousand children there of all ages, from infants to teenagers. Now, the infants are adopted easily but there are very slim chances of a child over the age of 4 to be adopted. There is a certain prejudice against them. I talked to teenagers there and was surprised to find that some were abandoned, while some of their parents died and their immediate family didn't want to claim them. I felt that they needed the love of a parent. All the children that I met had a different story and I cried hearing some of it.

Going there made me realise how lucky I am to have parents who have reared me so well and love me unconditionally.  I decided that I want to raise awareness about adoption through my school project. These children are in dire need of love. It would make me happy if anyone got adopted, regardless of their age, through my project. I want to ask if you also could educate people about this. It would be a great help. I suggest you visit an orphanage. Please write to me about your experience.  Give my regards to all.

Yours Truly,

Shanice
