Antonio was a Jewish trademan in the play Merchant of Venice. He had his trading business overseas. He was middle-aged wealthy man with great personality. He was kind hearted money lender who used to lend money without charging any interest. He was exact opposite to Shylock who lent money at avery high interest. Antonio was Bassanio's best friend.
