Prove that when light travels from denser medium to rarer medium it bends away from normal

best_answer

When a ray of light travels from an optically denser medium to an optically rarer medium, it always bends away from the normal.

let's see how
According to Snell's Law:

For optically denser medium, refractive index  n_1 is greater than that of the rarer medium  n_2. Thus, the angle of refraction will be greater than the angle of incidence i.e. it bends away from the normal.
