There are many proverbs that talk of the virtue of silence. This proverb too suggests that silence is golden. One should not talk unnecessarily and unless one can improve the conversation. In many situations, silence is the best response. It can help us hide our ignorance and shield us against some embarrassing moments. For instance, when you cannot think of an answer, it is better to be silent than betray yourself and talk unwisely. Similarly, the best response to another person's anger is silence, as it can prevent the situation from turning into an ugly scenario. Our gurus of the past used to practice silence rigorously and today, meditation is highly recommended because the truth is known to us and self - control is developed in those silent moments. It is therefore said, silence is truly empowering. Many times, silence is the best weapon and can communicate more than words.
