Medium X                                            Medium Y

Speed =V_{X}                                    Speed =V_{Y}

Absolute ref. Index =\mu _{X}=1.5   Absolute Ref.Index=\mu _{Y}

R.I of a medium Y with respect to medium X (\mu _{YX})=1.6

(\mu _{YX})=\frac{V_{X}}{V_{Y}}             OR         (\mu _{YX})=\frac{\mu _{Y}}{\mu _{X}}

                                                        1.6=\frac{\mu _{y}}{1.5}

                                                        \mu _{y}=1.6\times 1.5

                                                         \frac{C}{V_{y}}=1.6\times 1.5

                                                        V_{y}=\frac{C}{1.6\times 1.5}=\frac{3\times 10^{8}}{1.6\times 1.5}

                                                        V_{y}=1.25\times 10^{8}\; m/s
