Given short wavelength of Lyman series,

\lambda _{L}=R\left [ \frac{1}{1^{2}}-\frac{1}{\infty } \right ]

\frac{1}{913.4\; A^{\circ}}=R\left [ \frac{1}{1^{2}}-\frac{1}{\infty } \right ]

\Rightarrow \lambda _{L}=\frac{1}{R}=9.13.4\; \AA

For the short wavelength of Balmer series.

n_{1}=2\; \; \; \; \; \; n_{2}=\infty

\frac{1}{\lambda _{B}}=R\left [ \frac{1}{2^{2}}-\frac{1}{\infty } \right ]

\lambda _{B}=\frac{4}{R}=4\times 913.4\; A^{\circ}

                    =3653.6\; A^{\circ}
