The sound produced at a point is heard by a person after 2.5 seconds, while the same sound is heard by another person after 3 seconds. If the speed of sound is 300 m/s, what could be the maximum and minimum distances between the two persons?

The distance travelled by sound = speed x time

So the distance are 300 x 2.5= 750 m and 300 x 3 = 900 m.

The minimum distance is when both people are on same side and = 900-750=150 m

Maximum distance is obtained when the people are at opposite sides from the source and maximum distance= 900+750=1650m
