The personal response to the poem "A small pain in my chest" is that it is a very sad poem. It is about young soldiers and how they bravely fight with enemies. It is about their pain, sadnesss, loss of friends, family and life that they feel. It is about how costly their job is to them, how less they get and how much they suffer in name of war.
War only brings destruction, pain and loss, financially, personally and proffessionally. It gives peace and happiness to no one. It is futile to fight a war as at the end of it there is going to be only losses. Sometimes, it also appears that very young people are taken for war, young enough to not understand the meaning of war, loss, pain, sacrifice and extent of something being destructive and harmful. All they understand is their duties.
