What difference do we observe between an acid and a base when we dissolve them in water

Answers (1)

Acids donate hydrogen ions when dissolved in water and bases mixed with water yield hydroxide ions (OH-). Solutions with a high concentration of H+ ion is acidic in nature and that with high concentration of OH- ion is basic.
