What is AC current?
Alternating current (AC) is an electric current whose magnitude and direction change periodically with time.
In AC, electrons oscillate back and forth in the circuit rather than moving in only one direction.
It is represented as:
I = I0sin?(ωt) or I = I0cos?(ωt)where:
I0? = maximum or peak current
ω = angular frequency (ω = 2 π f)
t = time
The rate of change is measured in frequency (f), in hertz (Hz). For example, in India, AC has a frequency of 50 Hz.
