A noun phrase apposition takes place when two noun phrases are used simultaneously or side by side or together in a sentence. Both the noun phrases talks about the same thing. Examples of a noun phrase apposition is -

1.My cousin, Rita Chauhan is a teacher. Here the name Rita Chauhan and cousin is used side by side. Both are nouns and talk about the same person.

2. My brother, Amit Sharma is an architect. Here the name Amit Sharma and brother is used side by side and talks about the same person. Both the names are nouns.

3. The kitchen, the smallest room, is close to the balcony.Here the word Kitchen and smallest room  both are noun words and used side by side and both are talking about the same room.
