What is scattering of light ? Use this phenomenon to explain why (i) the Sun appears reddish at sun-rise, and (ii) the clear sky appears blue.

When the beam of light is redirected in different direction by interaction of the particles present in the medium it is called scattering of light.

(i) when we look towards the sun at sunset we see red and orange colours because the blue light has been scttered out and away from the lines of sight.so sun appears red in color.

(ii) on a clear cloudless day - the sky is blue because molecules in the air scatter blue light from the sun more than they scatter red ligh
