What is the function of the pituitary body in the brain

The brain tells the pituitary gland to increase or decrease the amount of certain hormones and hence, also known as the master gland of the endocrine system. It senses the body's needs and sends signals to different organs and glands throughout the body to regulate their function and maintain an appropriate environment.
