Given expression

                            $$ |2x -1| > 5 $$

Squaring both sides, 

                                    $$ 4x^2 -4x +1 > 25 $$\$$ $$ 4x^2 -4x -24>0 $$\$$ $$x^2 - x - 6 > 0$$\$$ $$ (x - 3)(x+2)> 0 $$\$$

this is representing on the number line, 

                                                             $$Rightarrow x< -2 or x> 3 $$

Hence,  

                                              $$x<-2 or x> 3 $$ is correct
