Poverty, hunger, and survival was the most theme of the story Hunger written by Nasira Sharma. within the story there have been two characters whose names was: Kasim and Rizwan. Rizwan was an informed and young man but comes from a really poor family. His mother was ill, his father had died two years ago and two younger brothers had to drop out of the faculty simply because of their poverty. In such a condition, Rizwan is seeking employment and on the verge of getting one. The Kihaan newspaper has promised him employment on the condition that he has got to submit five interviews first with people’s names and addresses.

But the truth is hard. Rizwan finds it very difficult to seek out people that have time to speak with him, as everybody is trying to survive during this harsh world. Finally, he found a person named Kasim who may be a rag-seller and earns just five hundred rupees a month.

In their conversation, Rizwan involves knows that Kasim has an old father and a young child of 4. he's getting to take his son to an equivalent work subsequent year when he becomes five. When asked about educating his son, taking land for farming, or taking a loan from the bank to start out a business, Kasim isn't curious about anything. this is often simply because he has been cheated this manner before. So he's now determined together with his way of life and doesn’t want to urge diverted from that. this is often apparent that he just wants to survive in his own way, without taking anyone’s help and being deceived again. So he doesn’t wait long in spite of Rizwan’s requests. He even had no permanent address to supply him with.

But it’s only within the latter part of the story that we come to understand Rizwan’s own poverty and the way he's trying to survive during this world of poverty and despair. He himself had eaten nothing since that morning. So, after reaching the office on an empty stomach he put his own name and address on the interview sheet and submitted it with the hope of getting another man for interviewing subsequent day.

Apparently, he thought that it had been only fair to write down his own name and address on Kasim’s interview, as he found no big difference between his and Kasim’s conditions. Both were striving to survive in their own way.
