The word amongst means into something,  surrounded by something, in between something, in the middle of or midst of something. It also means the whole of or by all and in a group of.   Some examples of sentences where the word amongst is used are-

1. I found the stapler amongst the stationary.

2. He dodged himself amongst the crowd of aggressive football players.

3. Before the teacher entered the class, the children were talking amongst themselves.

4. Regarding global warming, the consensus amongst scientist is that it will keep on getting worse.

5. She was sitting amongst a group of old ladies counselling them for the old age.

6. The Mount Everest is highest peak among the Himalayan mountains.
