Dara Shikah was the eldest son of the Mughal emperor Shahjahan. He was designated with the title Padshahzada-i-Buzurg Martaba. Dar was liberal-minded orthodox muslims. He translated many religious books. The library established by Dara Shikoh still exists on the grounds of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprasth University, Kashmiri Gate, Delhi.
