Sodium hydrogen carbonate is made up of strong base NaOH and weak acid H_{2}CO_{3}, Thats why it is an alkaline salt.

        NaHCO_{3}+H_{2}O\rightarrow NaOH+H_{2}CO_{3}

Use-

(i) For making baking soda

(ii) It is used in antacid to neutralise acidity in the body.

(iii) It is used as a fire-extinguisher.
