Dear Archana,

Hope this letter finds you in good health. It has been a year since we last met. Since Covid-19 happened, everything has changed. Our school has opened exactly a year later but only students from class 10 to 12 can attend, that too with parent’s permission. I sometimes used to loathe going to school but I was ecstatic when they opened it. I got so bored in my house. All my co-curricular activities and tuition were stopped. The worst part was that I couldn’t meet my friends and relatives. But I was lucky to have my family by my side. You must have seen in the news people suffering and walking great distances just to go home.

When covid came in the picture, I took necessary precautions way before lockdown happened. I would wear masks in public spaces and have sanitizer and paper soap with me at all times. When we bought groceries, we would either sanitize them or isolate the same. We would wash our vegetables thoroughly. Whenever I was out to run necessary errands, I would come home, bathe and put my clothes in the washer. There was an unknown fear that grasped me in case the virus could contract me. I was fearing anyone who would even clear his throat.

But I realised this fear is not only messing up my mental health but also weakening my immune system. To clear my mind, I started doing yoga in the morning, couple of breathing exercises and worked on making my immune system stronger. I realised we don’t have to fear the virus but fight it together. One can only hope for the best. Till now, I am healthy and fine.

Do write to me about your experience of lockdown. Give my regards to all.

Yours truly,

Vanya
