 I SAVED A SQUIRREL’S LIFE

These days, I go to the park in the early morning hours. Yesterday, in the parking lot of the park, I saw a squirrel lying on the ground, bleeding.  She suffered an injury on the leg, thus could not move. It was probably attacked by an animal. I immediately picked her up and put her in my handkerchief and took her to the nearest animal hospital. They took an x-ray of her leg and thankfully it was not broken. It was just badly damaged. They wrapped her leg in bandages and I took her home with me. I put her in a deep cardboard box. For 15 days, I fed her, bathe her, and gave her medicine. Initially, she was scared of me but eventually she started to trust me. After a week, she started standing on her feet but had trouble walking. The next week she started to walk. One morning, she was getting restless in the box, so I took her out and placed her by the window. After a minute, she left. It was a bittersweet feeling where I was happy and sad to let her go. It felt good to do that.
