Tips & Tricks for KVPY Biology

  • You need to be thorough with everything from the process of respiration to inheritance patterns in humans.
  • The KVPY exam is to a greater extent to check your basics and logic than your capacity to know more than what is required of your age. So make certain to get your basics clear since that is what is going to get you to check in the assessment.
  • If you are giving the exam in your class 11th, be thorough with everything your Biology teacher(s) taught you till Class 10th.
  • If you are from a PCM background and preparing for other competitive exams like JEE Mains, then its obviously not possible to go through the entire syllabus because you will not be able to give so much time since there is a lot to learn in biology.
  • Summarize the concept, diagrams, definitions in the form of charts and tables, that will help you in quick revision strategy.
  • Try and include important applications and examples in the charts and tables.
  • All chapters and topics of Biology are equally important. Note down and memorize the common and scientific names of the organisms while reading.
  • To get a fair idea of the questions pattern, solve previous year question papers. They give you a knowledge into the genuine KVPY test and help you break down its trouble level.
  • As we know the mode of the exam is online, so try to give online mock tests as much you can.
  • You can make a glossary for yourself which may comprise important definitions, important diagrams, comparison in between major terms such as- comparision of respiration and combustion include flow charts and shortcuts to learn important topics.
  • Read your topic a night before studying it in the class. Agreed that it’s difficult as it requires time and can often be boring too, but this tip is tried and tested and it really helps.
  • Make sure that you are studying with the help of NCERT. Go through the diagrams of NCERT as generally questions are asked from diagrams.
