8.9 In what way is the electronic configuration of the transition elements different from that of the non transition elements?

The main difference between the electronic configuration of transition elements and non-transition elements is that non-transition elements don't have partially filled d-orbital as its d-orbital is completely filled.

For transition elements  the electronic configuration is  (n - 1)d1-10 ns0-2

For non-transition elements the electronic configuration is   ns1-2 or ns2np1-6.
