As we have learned

First law in Adiabatic Process -

\Delta Q= \Delta U\, + \Delta W
 

- wherein

Since \Delta Q= 0

(in  Adiabatic Process )

\Delta U+\Delta W = 0

 

 By the first law of thermodynamic 

\Delta Q = \Delta U + \Delta W

For the adiabatic process, there is no exchange of heat b/w the system and surrounding 

i.e \Delta Q =0

So  \Delta U +\Delta W =0

\Delta W =- \Delta U

Work done by system equals to decrease in internal energy
