The total number of members  =   8

The first person can choose any one of 8 places. So he or she has 8 options.

The 2nd person has 7 options. So each person will have 1 option less than the previous person has.

The 3rd person has 6 options. So each person will have 1 option less than the previous person has and so on.

Thus, the number of arrangements is given by,

8 \times 7 \times 6 \times 5 \times 4 \times 3 \times 2=40320

Therefore, the total number of arrangements is 40320.
