A sample of an ideal gas is taken through the cyclic process ABCA as shown in figure. It absorbs, 40 J of heat during the part AB, no heat during BC and rejects 60 J of heat during CA. A work of 50 J is done on the gas during the part BC. The internal energy of the gas at A is 1560 J. The workdone by the gas duringh the part CA is :

Option: 1

\mathrm{20 \mathrm{~J}}

Option: 2

\mathrm{30 \mathrm{~J}}

Option: 3

\mathrm{-30 \mathrm{~J}}

Option: 4

\mathrm{-60 \mathrm{~J}}

Answers (1)

\Delta U_{AB}=40 \mathrm{~J} \text { as proces is Isochoric}

 \mathrm{Q_{BC}=\Delta U+W_{B C}}
\mathrm{\Delta \mathrm{U}+\mathrm{W}_{\mathrm{Bc}}=0}

\mathrm{\Delta U_{B C}=-W_{B C}}
             \mathrm{=-[-50]=50 \mathrm{~J}}
\mathrm{U_{C}=U_{A}+\Delta U_{A B}+\Delta U_{B C}=1650}
For CA process
Q_{CA }=-60J
\mathrm{\Delta U_{CA}+W_{CA}=-60}
\mathrm{-90 +W C A=-60}
\mathrm{W_{ CA }=+30J}
Hence option 2 is correct.
