A vessel of depth 2h is half filled with a liquid of refractive index 2\sqrt2 and the upper half with another liquid of refractive index \sqrt2. The liquids are immersible. The apparent depth of the inner surface of the bottom of vessel will be:
Option: 1  \frac{h}{\sqrt2}
Option: 2  \frac{3}{4}h\sqrt2
Option: 3  \frac{h}{3\sqrt2}
Option: 4  \frac{h}{2(\sqrt2 + 1)}

Answers (1)

best_answer

d = \frac{h}{\sqrt2} + \frac{h}{2\sqrt2}\Rightarrow d = \frac{h}{\sqrt2}\times \frac{3}{2} = \frac{3\sqrt2h}{4}

Hence the option correct option is (2).
