Vernier scale reading (V) = 7th divison

The total reading of the Vernier callipers can be calculated by adding the main scale reading to the product of the Vernier scale reading and the least count (LC):

                    Total reading = M + (V * LC)

Step 1: Calculate the total reading of the Vernier callipers:

                    Total reading = 3.5 cm + (7 * LC) 

Step 2: Calculate the length of the wooden block:

                    Length = Total reading

The length of the wooden block can be directly obtained from the total reading.

Step 3: Substitute the values and calculate the length:

                    Length = 3.5 cm + (7 * 0.01 cm) = 3.5 cm + 0.07 cm = 3.57 cm

The length of the wooden block is 3.57 cm.
