Question says small bubble is trapped inside a cube of length 24 cm. If apparent distance of bubble is 12 cm and 4 cm from one and other side and find x = ?

\mu_2=1 \quad \, \, \, \, \, \, \, \, \, \mu_1 \, \, is \, \, glass\\ \mu_1=\mu \quad \, \, \, \, \, \, \, \, \, \, \, \, \, \mu_2 \, \, is \, \, air\\ $$ \frac{12}{\mathrm{~d}_1}=\frac{1}{\mu}

\begin{aligned} & 12 \mu=\mathrm{d}_1 \quad \ldots .(1) \\ & \frac{4}{\mathrm{~d}_2}=\frac{1}{\mu} \quad \Rightarrow 4 \mu=\mathrm{d}_2 \end{aligned}

\mathrm{d}_1+\mathrm{d}_2=24 \mathrm{~m} \Rightarrow \quad 12 \mu+4 \mu=24 \Rightarrow \quad \mu=\frac{24}{16}=\frac{6}{4}=\frac{3}{2}
