As we have learnt,

VBT helps us to predict the hybridisation of the compound if the magnetic moment is known.

It is given that \mathrm{Ni(CO)_4} is diamagnetic.

In the given complex, \mathrm{Ni} exists as \mathrm{Ni(0)} and has an electronic configuration of \mathrm{d^{10}} in the bonded state.

Thus, the complex has to be \mathrm{sp^3} hybridized as it is a four co-ordinated complex with no inner d orbitals available for the bond formation.

Hence, the correct answer is Option (2)
