These are normally ionisable and satisfied by negative ions.

eg:

COCl_{2} \rightarrow  Primary Valency is 2

CrCl_{3}\rightarrow   Primary Valency is 3

 

 

In [Co(en)_2Cl_2]^{+}

No. of monodentate ligand = 2

No. of bidentate ligand = 2

Co-ordination no. of the metal = 2 + 2(2)= 6.
