As we learnt in

Reaction of Grignard reagent with aldehyde -

With methanol yields primary alcohol, with all other aldehydes produces secondary alcohols

- wherein

 

 Except methanal, all other aldehyde with grignard reagent produces secondary alcohol. Rest all are reducing agent which reduces RCHO to RCH2OH
