As we have learned

 

Length of sub Normal -

L_{SN}=yy'

- wherein

 

Where \;\:y'=\frac{dy}{dx}

 

 Length of subnormal =yy' .. at .. (2,4)

y^{2}= 8x\Rightarrow 2yy'= 8\Rightarrow y'= \frac{4}{y}\Rightarrow y' .. at..(2,4)= 1

Length of subnormal = 4*1=4
