Mean free path -

The average distance travelled  by a molecule between two successive collision. And we also knows that the particles moves in a straight line after any collision, directions may be random but trajectory is straight line

For a gas mean free path 

d=\frac{m}{\sqrt{2}\pi d^{2}\rho }

so d \propto \frac{1}{\rho }  and d\; \alpha \; m
