Given below are two statements : Statement I : The limiting molar conductivity of \mathrm{KCl} (strong electrolyte) is higher compared to that of \mathrm{CH_{3}COOH} (weak electrolyte). Statement II: Molar conductivity decreases with decrease in concentration of elecrolyte. In the light of the above statements,choose the most appropriate answer from the options given below:
Option: 1 Statement I is false but Statement II is true
Option: 2 Both Statement I and Statement II are true
Option: 3 Statement I is true but Statement II is false
Option: 4 Both Statement I and Statement II are false

As we have learnt,

\mathrm{H^{\bigoplus }}and \mathrm{OH^{\ominus }} have unusually high values of molar conductance . Hence, at infinite dilution \mathrm{CH_{3}COOH}  has a greater molar conductance .

\mathrm{\Lambda_m,CH_{3}COOH= \lambda_ m,CH_{3}COO^{\ominus }+\lambda_m,H^{+}}

\mathrm{\Lambda_m,KCl= \lambda _m,K^{+}+\lambda _m,Cl^{-}}

Also, molar conductivity increases with the decrease in the concentration. This is because the total volume of solution containing one mole of the electrolyte increases causing an increase in conductance which more than compensates for the decrease in conductivity (\mathrm{\kappa}).

Hence, both Statement I and II are false.

Thus, the correct answer is Option (4)
