Properties of A.M. and  G.M

A and G are arithmetic and geometric mean of ‘a’ and ‘b’, two real, positive and distinct number. Then, a and b are the roots of the equation x2-2Ax+G2=0.

x^2-8x+4=0\\ \text{by the above concept }\\ \text{compare with } x^2-2Ax+G^2=0\\ A=4,\ \ \ G=2
