Delta Q= Delta U, + Delta W

Delta U+Delta W = 0

\Delta Q =2\ Kcal = 2\times 4.2\times 1000\ J

         =8400\ J

W = 500 J

\therefore \Delta U = \left ( 8400 - 500 \right )\ J=7900\ J
