  The value of the resistor, R_{{S}'} needed in the dc voltage regulator circuit shown here, equals :

  • Option 1)

    \left ( V_{i}-V_{L} \right )/n\: I_{L}

  • Option 2)

    \left ( V_{i}+V_{L} \right )/n\: I_{L}

  • Option 3)

    \left ( V_{i}-V_{L} \right )/\left (n+1 \right )\: I_{L}

As we have learnt,

Zener diode -

It can operate continuously without being damaged in the region of reverse  biased

- wherein

1) It acts as voltage regulator

2) In forward biasing it act as ordinary diode .

 Total current = (n+1) = I_L flowing through R_S

Voltage across R_S = (V_i - V_L)

\therefore R_S = \frac{(V_i - V_L)}{(n+1)I_L}

Option 1)

\left ( V_{i}-V_{L} \right )/n\: I_{L}

Option 2)

\left ( V_{i}+V_{L} \right )/n\: I_{L}

Option 3)

\left ( V_{i}-V_{L} \right )/\left (n+1 \right )\: I_{L}

Option 4)

\left ( V_{i}+V_{L} \right )/\left (n+1 \right )\: I_{L}
