Break th function into sub intervals and calculate integrals Separately.

If f(x) has discontinnities in \left [ a,b \right ] at finite number of points

 

 \int_{0}^{4}\left [ x \right ]dx= \int_{0}^{1}\left [ x \right ]dx+ \int_{1}^{2}\left [ x \right ]dx+ \int_{2}^{3}\left [ x \right ]dx+ \int_{3}^{4}\left [ x \right ]dx

=\left [ 0 \right ]^{1}_{0}+\left [ 1x \right ]^{2}_{1}+\left [ 2x \right ]^{3}_{2}+\left [ 3x \right ]^{4}_{3}

=1+2+3=6
