A ray of light is incident at an angle of 60 \degree on one face of a prism of angle 30 \degree. The
emergent ray of light makes an angle of 30 \degree with incident ray. The angle made by
the emergent ray with second face of prism will be :

  • Option 1)

    0 \degree

  • Option 2)

    90 \degree

As we have learned

Angle of deviation through prism (δ) -

\delta = i+e-A

- wherein

i= angle of incidence

e= angle of emergence

A= angle of prism

i=60 \degree

A=30 \degree

\varrho =30 \degree

\varrho =i +e-A  or e=\varrho +A-i= 30+30-60=0 \degree

so angle with face = 90 \degree

Option 1)

0 \degree

This is incorrect

Option 2)

90 \degree

This is correct

Option 3)

45 \degree

This is incorrect

Option 4)

30 \degree

This is incorrect
