As we have learnt,

 

P -N junction as diode -

It is a one way device. It offers a low resistance when forward biased and high resistance when reverse biased.

R = 0, Forward 

R  \rightarrow \infty Reverse

 

 

In the figure D, is reverse biased, hence no current will flow through D.

\Rightarrow I = \frac{V}{R} = \frac{12V}{6\Omega} = 2 A
