The shape of the earth is not perfectly sphericle.

But it has an elliptical shape as shown in the below figure.

Where R_{e}\rightarrow Radius of the equator

R_{p}\rightarrow Radius of pole

And Equatorial radius is about 21 km longer than the polar radius
