K= {\frac{1}{4 \pi \epsilon_{0}} \frac{(Z e)(2 e)}{r_{0}}} \\ \\ {\text { Thus, } r_{0} \propto \frac{1}{K}}

r_0 - the distance of closest approach between the nucleus and alpha particle

K- Initial Kinetic energy of an alpha particle

Hence, when the kinetic energy of an alpha particle is doubled, the closest distance r_0 will be halved.

Hence 2 is the correct answer.
