The time period of the satellite is given by 

T=2 \pi \sqrt{\frac{(R+h)^{3}}{g R^{2}}}

If the satellite is very close to the earth’s surface,

   i.e., h<<<R

    then  T=2\pi \sqrt\frac{R}{g}\cong 84.6\ minutes
               or T\simeq1.4hr
