The time period of the satellite is given by

$T=2 \pi \sqrt{\frac{(R+h)^{3}}{g R^{2}}}$

If the satellite is very close to the earth’s surface,

i.e., h<<<R

then  $T=2\pi \sqrt\frac{R}{g}\cong 84.6\ minutes$
or $T\simeq1.4hr$
