- Is Gauss's law valid only for symmetrical charge distributions?
Gauss Law is valid for any type of charge distribution, but it is easier to calculate for symmetric ones as some easy and known surface can be used as Gaussian surface. But if not symmetrical then the Gaussian surface may be an awkward shape and so evaluation becomes harder.
